2025 Spring Softball

Starting with the 2025 season, children at the youngest level of the Little League® Baseball and Softball program (League Age 4-7) will have the ability to register for any Little League program they choose, without respect to any geography- or school-related eligibility requirements. Those players who register under this option will also be fully eligible to participate in all aspects of league play, including International Tournament play, for the duration of their Little League careers provided they have continuous and unbroken participation within the specific league where initially registered and provided all other participation eligibility requirements have been met.

League Age 6-year-olds: If they are nervous about playing baseball for the first time, they can play Tee Ball. If they have completed at least one spring season of Teeball, are mature for their age, and have above average baseball skills for their age, they have the option to attend assessments and try out for CAPS (machine pitch). If not drafted in CAPs. Usually only a few 6-year-olds play CAPS and they can already catch, throw, and hit off the pitching machine.
League Age 7-year-olds: If they are brand new to baseball, they should play Teeball . If they have completed at least one spring season of Teeball, they can play CAPS (machine pitch). Those wanting to play in CAPS will need to be drafted into CAPS.
League Age 8-year-olds: Most play CAPs, but they have the option to try out to play up in Minors (player pitch). If not drafted in Minors, they will play CAPS. Usually only a few 8 year olds play in Minors if they can already catch, throw, and hit well and must attend ASSESSMENTS to be considered and be drafted onto a Minors team.
League Age 9-year-olds: If they have played at least one spring season of CAPS and had a successful season, then they should play in Minors. If they are new to baseball, or if they struggled in CAPS the previous season, they should play in CAPS.
League Age 10-year-olds: Can only play Minors, they cannot play down at CAPS. Usually only a few 10 year olds play in Majors if they can already catch, throw, and hit well and must attend ASSESSMENTS to be considered and be drafted onto a Majors team.
League Age 11-year-olds: If they have played at least one season of Minors and had a very successful season, then they should play in Majors If they are new to baseball or were not incredibly successful in Minors the previous season, they could play in Minors.

What if my child used to live in the boundary or go to school in the boundary but doesn't anymore?
If your child lived or attended school in our boundary last year and you have since moved or changed schools, not to worry, your player can continue to play with LGLL and will still be eligible for All Stars. If this is the case, please contact the league Player Agent at  [email protected] so we can begin the process for waiver. You can register your player prior to contacting the Player Agent, but make sure to contact them prior to the start of the season.

When does the season start?
Spring Season registration starts in December, assessments are in mid-January, teams are formed by the start of February, first games are right around Daylight Savings time change, and last games are the first weekend of June.

When are games played?
Games are played on each Saturday we will also play one weekday evening game each week.

When/where are practices?
Practice days/times and location are up to the manager to coordinate with the teams.

What are assessments?
Assessments are required for Spring season for players ( 8+) Minors, Majors, Intermediate, and Juniors division so that the managers can assess the skill levels of the players and balanced teams can be formed. Assessments are not required for Tee Ball

How are teams formed?
For CAPS, Minors, Majors, Intermediates, and Juniors division, spring teams are created using draft. Players attend assessments and their skills are evaluated. The players are ranked based on their evaluated skills. The managers then use the rankings as a guide to select their team through a draft. Assessment and rankings are done to help evenly draft the teams. The league will not honor any friend nor manager requests in the spring for the divisions that use assessments. For Tee Ball and Rookies, teams will be formed at orientation and players are allowed to select their manager and play on a team with their friends.

Is my player guaranteed to play in the division in which they are registered?
No. Players who do not get drafted into the division in which they registered will be placed in a lower division. Players who are registered for Tee Ball and Rookies will be placed on teams in the division in which they registered.

Are siblings guaranteed to be on the same team?
Siblings who are drafted in the same division will be placed on the same team. However, one sibling being drafted does not guarantee that the other sibling(s) will be drafted into that same division. Often, an older sibling is drafted into one division but the younger sibling is not drafted and therefor is placed in a lower division.

When are game schedules posted:
Game schedules are created and published no later than one week before Opening Day.
